Description

Women with Presence

Build confidence, create new opportunities, and take control of your future with support from the experts in career coaching for insurance professionals.

“Could not recommend more to women of any age or level” – Emma, attended August 2019

Created by women in insurance, for women in insurance – we understand the unique challenges you face throughout your career, and how you can push through them to create exciting opportunities, and take control of your future.

Does this sound like you?

  • You feel held back by self-doubt or uncertainty
  • You struggle to speak up in meetings
  • You feel stuck, and don’t know how to move your career forward
  • You feel frustrated by power dynamics and office politics
  • You think “I wish that was me” when others are promoted or recognised

You’re not alone. Like many ambitious women who take our courses, you likely have the technical expertise to excel. But there are two other key pieces to the puzzle – your presence and exposure – and they play a critical role in your career success.

But you don’t have to go it alone…

Imagine if:

  • You had a solid career plan and simple steps to help you move forward
  • You felt calm, confident, and in control every time you entered a meeting
  • You were supported by a strong network, and opportunities regularly came to you
  • You felt fulfilled and excited about your work
  • You became known as the “go-to” person in your specialty

All of this – and more – is right at your fingertips. Our simple 3 part system will help you overcome your fears, get out of your own way, and start making things happen.

What got you here, won’t get you there

Women outnumber men in entry-level insurance positions, but men still dominate senior leadership roles, with only 1 in 5 executive committee positions being held by women, on average.

The behaviours and habits that helped get you in the door, might now be holding you back. We shine a light on the typical roadblocks women face in the insurance industry, and help you push through them with confidence.

Our sessions are 100% female-led and tailored to the unique experiences and challenges women face. Feel at ease knowing you’re in a safe, judgement-free space, where like-minded professional women come together to listen, learn, and empower each other to take control of their careers.

Our success stories

I attended this course last month and found the two days to be incredibly useful. I left with a much better understanding about creating a brand for myself, how to carry myself in meetings and tough situations and many useful tips on how to engage in meaningful career related conversations, plus lots more.

This course is beneficial to all ages and for people at any stage in their career. It’s also a great opportunity to meet new people. It created a welcoming environment where everyone was happy to share their thoughts and get to know each other better.

Two of my underwriting team recently attended this course. I encouraged them to sign up as I felt the learning objectives would support them with topics that have come up in some of our career and development conversations.

Following from the course I have been really impressed with some of the learnings they have shared, they even had some tips I have found helpful for myself!

The course has provided tools and knowledge to allow them to take meaningful steps for their career. Empower Development is a very appropriate name for this company, they are definitely more empowered!

    Course Feedback

The course gave me a different perspective of multiple things that I would struggle with on a day to day basis. The course also opened my eyes to things that I didn’t realise I was doing and gave me advice on how I can go about improving this. There were lots of great take away’s from this session and really helped me to address specific things I am struggling with or didn’t even realise were an issue.

In July I was given the opportunity to attend this course, hosted by Samantha Ridgewell. This two day course focused on developing skills to increase presence day to day within the workplace and when looking at achieving your own personal long term goals. The course enabled me to meet new people within the market and create an open and honest forum to share ideas and tips to successfully engage in meaningful career conversations. I would highly recommend this course to women of any age or level as being reminded of these tips and thought probing ideas are essential to building a personal brand and ongoing career development.

I put forward one of my team members to attend the “Women with Presence” course. I have had very positive feedback from my team member and she has become noticeably more confident as a result of attending.
She has developed gravitas in meetings, has a focused career plan and is being a lot more proactive with her networking.
Thanks Sam for helping her to flourish.

I could not recommend this course more. Having been on some of Sam’s courses before, I really thought I had learnt all the practical tips, theory, advice and expertise that she had to offer. I was so wrong. From career advice, everyday tips, progression, how to conduct yourself, appreciating other’s motivations and all the discussions around the group in between, I have come away feeling energised and with multiple action points. This is a very practical course for women at various stages in their career, and totally worth taking out some time from your day job to re-evaluate and reflect! Thanks Sam – I may need a refresher in a year’s time to hold me to the resolutions and action points!

I wasn’t too sure what to expect on this course, but I thought it was great! It’s very relaxed and interactive and really made me stop and think about some of the ways in which I present myself both internally and externally. I have collected a huge amount of tips from the day and really appreciated the list of resources. Sam is incredibly knowledgeable about the subject matter and it was very appropriate that it was presented by someone who has worked in the industry for many years and understands some of the challenges presented. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed this two days course and find it very useful. Sam shared with us some interesting advice on how to manage our careers, solve problems and raise our profiles. Sometimes it is really hard to find out what the rules are in a male dominated environment, Sam, however, pointed us in a good direction, showing us that that we can make a difference and we can be an equal party in this business by managing our careers, asking for guidelines and being proactive.
I think this course should be a mandatory one for all the women in the industry as it gives easy and practical solutions that we can use on a daily basis. Moreover, Sam is a very professional trainer who listens carefully and is extremely willing to help. She created a very safe environment for all of us to speak our minds, share our experience and gain knowledge and new skills together.

I really enjoyed this two-day course, which was full of practical, useful, and actionable tips and advices. The course was informative and interactive. It also gave me an opportunity to step back from usual day-to-day work and personal life and to think about how I would like to develop and improve my career. It was also a great opportunity to meet like-minded female professionals from the same industry. Thank you so much, Sam.
